This is the personal web site of Robert Bismuth - an executive with over 25 years of experience in software, networking, computer systems and semiconductor technologies. His activities have ranged from strategic management to running organizations and companies that have built various products and solutions, including :
- Transparent, conductive screens based on nano technology
- Low power, high performance microprocessors
- Large scale database applications
- Operating systems, compilers and tools
- Web-based platforms for broadband applications
Living in Seattle, Robert is a founder of NetExec, Inc., a past CEO of several startup companies and currently serves in an executive capacity at a Menlo Park based company focused on the use of Carbon Nanotubes in the electronics industry. From time to time he still consults to a variety of organizations and holds various positions on the boards of several high tech companies and organizations.
While he is quite active in carbon nano technology, Robert also maintains his keen personal interest in highly distributed collaboration environments as a basis for improving and innovating processes between people working within a variety of different organizational and community structures. He is particularly interested in how applications that are similar in power/complexity to large scale enterprise solutions can be created and delivered as trustworthy infrastructures for small to medium scale user communities. Robert has spent years looking at architecting network-based services and solutions to be more easily delivered and used reliably within such large, but frequently difficult to reach, markets.
Outside of his professional activities, Robert has many diverse interests - check them out using the "Interests" menu button. Of particular note is his interest in aerobatic flight. An active aerobatic pilot, Robert has not only competed at the regional and national levels but has been instrumental in securing the 2008 FAI Advanced World Aerobatic Championship event for the US. He is currently the President of the organization that will host this international event during early August 2008 in Pendleton, Oregon.
From his first competition, Robert has also been photographing the aerobatic events in the US. In 2005 and 2006 he acted as the official photographer for the National Championships. In 2007 Robert was en route to do so again when an unfortunate in-flight engine problem cut short his trip to the Championships.
Robert's past photographs are available on this website and also in a series of wall calendars he has created, one for each event he has photographed. Past calendars included images taken at the 2005 US National Aerobatic Championship and at both the 2005 and 2004 IAC Chapter 67 Apple Cup and the IAC Chapter 77 Beaver State Regional. These calendars are no longer available but the 2008 versions are currently in design and should be available from late November 2007.
The 2008 calendars will include one each the 2007 Beaver State Regional Aerobatic Competition (held in Pendleton OR), the 2007 Canadian Open Aerobatic Competition (held in Abbotsford BC), the 2007 Apple Cup Competition (held in Ephrata Washington, the 2007 Apple Turnover Competition (also held in Ephrata, Washington) and the 2007 Northwest EAA Air Show (held in Arlington WA). Robert may also create a new compilation 2008 calendar in tribute to the US National Aerobatic Championships and the pilots who have competed at that level over the past few years.
Please feel free to explore this site to learn more about Robert's activities.
